The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) announced a start of the operation “Muhammad Rasool Allah 2”. The aim of the operation is to liberate the town of Al-Kairawan and its countryside west of Tal Afar. The PMU has so far liberated the villages of Tal Hajm, Am al-Shabit, Amkibra, Sabaya Khorosh, Sedkhan, Abu Lahaf located north and east of Al-Kairawan. Furthermore, PMU forces besieged the village of Boutha, south of Al-Kairawan, and the villages of Mehdi Mahal and Hayat north of it.
The PMU has allegedly killed 57 ISIS fighters and destroyed 7 VBIEDs and 3 vehicles during the “Muhammad Rassol Allah 2” operation so far. The Iraqi Air Force has destroyed 3 ISIS mortar positions.
Separately, the Iraqi Air Force also destroyed an ISIS snipers training camp and a military command center in the Hawijah area west of Karkuk.
The PMU has reportedly captured weapons and ammunition from ISIS terrorists and discovered an ISIS communications center in the village of Tal Hajim.
Meanwhile, PMU fighters are temporarily evacuating civilians from the ongoing battles areas.
In Mosul, the Iraqi Army continued its advance and managed to take full control of the strategic Al-Islah al-Zira’y district in the right part of the city of Mosul. Thus, only 10 districts remained under the control of ISIS.
