On October 28, the Iraqi Army and the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) captured the al-Khour bridge, the al-Qa’im train station, the maintenance factory, the al-Qa’im power plant, the Akkaz gas station and al-Masharee area south and southwest of al-Qa’im city, according to the Iraqi Army War Media Cell.
The War Media Cell also reported that the Iraqi Army captured al-Nazwa, al-Nahya, al-Amari, al-Tazaleyah and Rataja villages on the Ana-al-Qa’im road west of al-Qa’im city.
Moreover, the Iraqi Air Force announced that its warplanes destroyed 2 headquarters, 2 ammunition depots and 4 positions of ISIS in Rawa town and al-Qa’im city in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the PMU media wing confirmed that the PMU’s 45th brigade reached the al-Qa’im city. The source added that the 45th brigade is preparing to storm the city in the upcoming hours.
Al-Qa’im city is considered the logisitical hub of ISIS on the Syrian-Iraqi border. However, ISIS will likely withdraw from the city due to the large losses it suffered during its latest battles against the government forces, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
