Iranian-Backed Militias Sent Reinforcement To Southern Syria - Report

On August 8, the Iranian-backed Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba and Liwa Fatemiyoun militias sent military reinforcements towards Rif-Dimashq province in the southern Syria. This was reported by the North Press agency the next day, on August 9.

According to local sources, the reinforcements included at least four-wheel drive vehicles that were equipped with machine guns and about 100 militants with their full military gear.

The convoy reportedly moved under the Syrian flag, in order not to avoid being spotted by U.S. aircraft. It started its journey in the vicinity of al-Sukhna town in the Syrian Badia desert and moved to the southern regions of the country.

According to the North Press agency’s source, the mobilization was organized under direct command of Lebanese Hezbollah in al-Qusayr in the Homs countryside.

If confirmed, this displacement would be the first Iranian military reinforcements sent from the Syrian Badia to other Syrian cities.
