Additionally to a wide range of tensions in military, diplomatic and economic spheres, the US and Iran appear to be involved in a meme war on the highest level.
Commander of the Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani, has responded to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a wide-scale anti-Irainan sanctions with a Game of Thrones-inspired meme of his own.
“Come! We are waiting,” Major-General Soleimani, head of the unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards responsible for their extraterritorial operations wrote on Instagram on November 2. “I am your enemy. Quds Force is your enemy,” added Soleimani. “You start this war, but we will finish it.”
Soleimani’s meme was a response to the “sanctions are coming” announcement of the anti-Iranian sanctions by US President Donald Trump.
