The situation is once again escalating at the contact line between Indian and Pakistani forces in the contested Jammu and Kashmir region.
Accrding to reports, last night a 24-year-old woman and her two siblings were killed on the Indian side of the Line of Control and another civilian was injured as a result of the artillery duel between the Indian and Pakistani forces. At the same time, 5 civilians and 2 soldiers were portedly killed on the Pakistani side of the contact line

Both sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire regime and targeting civilian areas. This development comes amid recent signs that the leadership of both states may have been seeking for a de-escalation of the situation. However, the situation on the ground is developing by own logic.
