Fierce fighting continues in the Kharkiv region. Russian soldiers partially block the city of Kharkiv, hold control over the city of Izyum and nearby villages in the south, slowly advancing to Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Barvenkovo. Russian troops recently took control of the villages of Terny and Kremennaya, located southeast of Izyum. According to some reports, the village of Torskoye is also almost under Russian control.
In turn, Ukrainian troops are holding their positions in the city of Liman, trying to stop the Russian offensive. The city is the last Ukrainian stronghold on the way to Slavyansk.
Russian and LPR forces are probably aimed at reaching Slavyansk from the northeast and northwest, encircling the AFU grouping deployed to the north of the city.
The Russian advance is slow. However, so far, the AFU units have been forced to abandon their positions in the region, and there have been no reports of successful counter-offensive attacks. At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are forbidden to surrender, according to some Ukrainian prisoners of war captured in the region, they risk being killed by their comrades if they try to surrender or leave their positions on the front line.
A recently published video of a dialogue between Ukrainian soldiers near the town of Liman confirmed that the Ukrainian forces remaining in the area suffered significant losses, some of their equipment failed due to bad weather conditions, they were abandoned by their commanders. At the same time, they are forbidden to retreat and ordered to fight to the death.
