The newly shared footage filmed by Russian reconnaissance UAV shows the destruction of the German Leopard 2A4 tank by Russian 152-mm Krasnopol guided projectile. The tank was destroyed by servicemen of the 291st artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near the village of Pobeda in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The precision strike provoked detonation of smoke grenade projectors. As a result of the attack, the entire tank caught fire.
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are destroying German Leopard tanks in different directions on the frontlines, including in the Russian Kursk region. On October 24th, the Armed Forces of Ukraine suffered heavy damage as a result of Russian strikes in the area of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic. At about midday, Russian strikes destroyed hangars of a farm in the village of Rozliv. They were used by the 33rd separate mechanized brigade of the AFU to hide the German Leopard 2A4 tanks. As a result of the attack, ammunition and several Leopard 2A4 tanks were reportedly destroyed and damaged. The exact number of the lost German tanks is unknown.
According to Western media, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already lost about 40 Leopard tanks since the beginning of the Russian Special Military Operation. In total, NATO supplied about 60 Leopard 2 in modifications 2A4, 2A6 and Strv 122, as well as 80 older Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine. Thus, almost 30 percent of the entire fleet of German Leopards in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine has already been destroyed on the frontlines.
