On June 3, local sources reported that Slovakia had transferred 4 more Mi-17 helicopters to Ukraine. The claims were supported by a video showing the transportation of helicopters.
On the same day, Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger claimed that Slovakia could supply Ukraine with MiG-29 fighters and tanks that are in service with the country’s military. During his speech on the Czech TV channel, the politician thanked the Czech Republic for its readiness to temporarily help Slovakia in protecting its airspace, added that Bratislava does not exclude the possibility of transferring MiG-29s and armored vehicles to Kiev, referring to the relevant request of the Ukrainian side.
No details of the possible supply of weapons were not revealed.
Earlier, Business Insider reported that the Slovak Ministry of Defense was dissatisfied with the terms of the deal with Germany to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Therefore, the previously promised transfer of T-72 tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not take place.
“We cannot accept the form of support promised to the Czech Republic and other countries. They supply Ukraine with a unit of weapons, and in return they receive two from Germany or another country. Slovakia has 30 T-72 tanks, and 15 Leopard tanks cannot serve as a solution for us, because we need 30 vehicles for a tank battalion,” a representative of the Slovak Ministry of Defense claimed.
