On October 30, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Borei-class nuclear-powered submarine Knyaz Vladimir had test-fired a nuclear capable Bulava ballistic missile. This was the first ever launch of this missile by Knyaz Vladimir.
The missile was launched from the White Sea on a target in the Kura Range, located on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East.
Knyaz Vladimir is the fourth Borei-class submarine in the Russian Navy. Three more Borei-class submarines – Yury Dolgoruky, Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh – have already carried out test launched of Bulava missiles.
