Another US-made M1 Abrams tank operated by Ukrainian forces has been destroyed by a Russian Lancet loitering munition in the Sumy region. The strike, carried out by a ZALA Lancet reconnaissance-attack drone, targeted the tank while it was hiding in a tree line near the village of Krasnopillia.
Footage released by Russian sources shows the Lancet drone precisely hitting the Abrams, causing a fire that completely disabled the vehicle. Prior to the strike, a ZALA Z-16 reconnaissance drone identified the tank’s position, ensuring an accurate attack.
Since the start of the conflict, Lancet drones have reportedly destroyed over 400 Ukrainian tanks, including more than 50 NATO-supplied vehicles such as German Leopards, British Challengers, and Abrams. The latest strike further demonstrates the effectiveness of Russian drone warfare against Western armor, despite Ukraine’s reliance on advanced foreign-supplied equipment. The continued losses of high-value NATO tanks highlight the challenges Kyiv faces in maintaining its armored forces amid Russia’s drone and artillery dominance.
