The Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip continue to carry out attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), hindering its ground operations.
On January 5, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released video footage showing a mortar attack against gatherings of troops and equipment of the IDF in the area of al-Qarim in northern Gaza.
The military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the al-Quds Brigades, released on the same day video footage of attacks with rocket-propelled grenades on IDF main battle tanks in the Gaza City neighborhoods of Tuffah and Darj, also in the northern part of the Stip.
From its side, the IDF announced on January 6 that it had found military equipment belonging to Hamas’ elite Nukhba forces in a Gaza clinic.
Rocket-propelled grenades, Kalashnikov-type assault rifles and ammunition were found in a nearby building, according to the IDF.

In addition, the IDF said that strikes were carried out on a number of cells and destroyed a number of tunnel shafts in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. .
Furthermore, Israeli troops located a warehouse containing dozens of Kalashnikovs, over a hundred cartridges, remote-activated explosive devices and a number of rocket-propelled grenades. The troops destroyed the warehouse, the IDF said.
The IDF expanded its ground operations in central and southern Gaza in recent weeks. However, it is yet to make any serious breakthrough. Meanwhile, Hamas and other armed factions in the Strip continue to adapt and improve their defensive tactics.
