On September 16, a series of Iraqi airstrikes hit a hideout of ISIS cells in the Hamrin mountain chain in the eastern province of Diyala.

In a statement, the Iraqi Air Force (IQAF) said that the hideout was completely destroyed and all the terrorists who were taking shelter inside were killed.

The air force also released video footage of the pinpoint airstrikes, which were carried out by F-16IQ fighter jets using precision-guided munitions, most likely with GBU-12 Paveway II bombs.

The IQAF regularly targets ISIS hideouts in the western, northern, central and eastern regions of Iraq in cooperation with local intelligence services.

Earlier this month, an AC-208 Combat Caravan counter-insurgency aircraft of the IQAF carried out airstrikes against a hideout of ISIS near the town of al-Dibs in the northern province of Kirkuk. Several terrorists were reportedly killed in the airstrikes.

Iraq announced the defeat of ISIS in 2017. However, the terrorist groups continue to wage an insurgency against government forces and orchestrate attacks against civilians.
