On August 14, the Houthis’ media wing released a video of recent attacks on Saudi-led coalition vehicles in the al-Buqa’ desert, between the northern Yemeni province of Saada and the Kingdom’s southern province of Najran.
The video shows four pick-up trucks being stuck with improvised-explosive devices (IEDs), which had been planted by the Houthis’ engineer units. Two personnel of Saudi-backed forces can be also seen being hit.
Advanced IEDs equipped with passive infrared (PIR) sensors or remote-controlled detonators, where apparently used in these attacks.
The Saudi-led coalition claims that Lebanese Hezbollah and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) are providing the Houthis’ engineer units with technical support to manufacture such advanced IEDs.
