On May 31, the armed forces of Ukraine hit the residential areas in the town of Stakhanov in the Luhansk People’s Republic. The shelling was carried out from 9K57 “Hurricane” multiple rocket launchers. Two people were killed. The both victims were pregnant women. 24 other civilians were injured, including eight children.
Local residents who were injured as a result of the Ukrainian strike described the attack. Two pregnant women were killed. One of them was so shocked that ahe managed to come to the hospital and asked for help. Unfortunately, she died of her wounds. Her child also died. Another victim covered her young sisters with her body, and could not survive the attack.
“We just heard explosions that started, we just fell to the ground and it started flying-whistling. I felt pain in my fingers, you know, as if the door was heavily pinched and that’s it, then I did nott feel my hand. The fragment flew in, tore off one finger, damaged two, but the doctors sewed everything well, did it, said they would work.
I heard that 24 people (were wounded), 8 of them were children, 5 heavily wounded were taken to Lugansk and twogirls were dead. I knew one girl who died, who was supposed to give birth today. She’s my neighbor. I saw her coming to the hospital, everything was fine, she had a shrapnel wound in her back. Apparently she was in a state of shock, but they could not save her, they could not save her child either, because there was nothing to save there.”
“I have three children: Anya, Nastya and the eldest Kristina, who was pregnant for six months. We buried the eldest today, the eldest covered her sisters with her body. And Kristina the second, who died, she covered her younger sister with herself. There were 5 of them. I just heard it all whistling over head and I immediately realized that something was flying somewhere, I started calling them, and in the receiver I only heard a scream that the older sister was no longer breathing. They went out at 4 o’clock, were supposed to meet in the field… there they stayed. There was a funeral today, I promised the children that I wouldn’t cry. Because when I cry, they get upset, and I don’t want to upset them.”
“I was injured in my back. I was hit by shrapnel. I was thrown on the ground, how and how much I flew… then I was unconscious and afterwards such a terrible, terrible pain. It’s such a scary weapon. Please stop this pain. It’s very scary!”
