Not so long ago, the “Wolfhound” tactical support vehicles arrived to Ukraine. These vehicles were donated by Great Britain. A total of 80 vehicles were deployed with the AFU. This vehicle appeared in Ukraine for the first time.

The Wolfhound is a sub-class of U.S. support vehicles. It is a special British truck version (Heavy Tactical Support Vehicle) of the 6×6 Cougar MRAP vehicles bought by the British, produced by the American company Force Protection (since 2011, General Dynamics Corporation), modified with the installation of additional British protection kits. In fact, this is a whole family of Cougar vehicles, and the Cougar is the basic equipment. There are also Cougar subspecies HEV, ILAV, JERRV, ISS and others. Each modification has its own specific upgrading.

The British received a total of 130 Wolfhound vehicles in 2008-2014, of which 125 remained in the British Army at the end of 2019 (including 68 in reserve and in storage). Although the Wolfhounds are transport vehicles for carrying supplies, judging by this video, they have been converted by the Ukrainians into some kind of heavy armament vehicles.

Weight of the vehicle is 14.5 tons and 17.2 tons in the maximum payload. Length of the car is about 6 meters, height – 2.6 meters, width – 2.7 meters. The car functions on diesel fuel, and the engine power is 330 hp. On the highway, the car reaches speeds of up to 105 km/h, and the maximum range is 966 km. These are the stock characteristics of the car. In the inventory of the British army there is a more improved version – Cougar. This model has armor plating on both sides. There are a few guns on the truck: L7A2 GPMG 7.62 mm, L110A1 5.56 mm, L11A1 12.7 mm, 40-mm grenade launcher L134A1. The armor is capable of withstanding a grenade launcher strike. The vehicle can withstand damage from mines.

At the moment the British Army has 140 Mastiff and 157 Cougar vehicles in service. In addition to Britain, Cougars are in service in several other countries – Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Georgia, Hungary, Iraq, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, USA and, more recently, Ukraine.
