On January 3, the Houthis’ snipers force released a detailed report of the results of its operations against the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies during December.
According to the report, Houthi snipers killed 67 soldiers and officers of the Saudi military, 11 Sudanese soldiers, a Kuwaiti officer and “hundreds” of Saudi-backed Yemen fighters. The snipers force also claimed that its personnel targeted 22 military vehicles and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Saudi-led coalition.
Since the beginning of last year, Houthi snipers have increased their activity throughout Yemen. Furthermore, the Yemeni group armed its snipers with a variety of locally modified heavy sniper rifles and western-made sniper rifles, which were captured from the Saudi military.
The Houthis are using their snipers force as an effective tool to deter the Saudi-led coalition by infecting heavy loses on it without the need to launch costly large-scale attacks.
