Soldiers from the Maglan special forces unit and unspecified aircraft opened fire at the four suspects, some of whom were armed, killing them all, IDF Spokesperson Hidai Zilberman said.
The spokesman said the military did not yet know which military or group the men belonged to, but that investigations were on-going.
“I believe in the coming days we’ll know better about what organization they were a part of,” Zilberman said.
The spokesman said the military was working on “neutralizing” the area where the four militants were operating and disarming the bombs, so that the explosives could be studied in order to determine which organization the men belonged to.
“We will continue to be on alert for many more days. We have a lot of patience,” he said.
The IDF spokesman said that while the outpost where the men planted the bomb was unmanned, the military still considered the attempted attack to be serious matter as the area is often patrolled by Israeli troops.
He also justified arrests and killings of Syrian shepherds in the Golan Heights, because gunmen would often disguise themselves as innocent civilians.
We just thwarted an attempt by 4 terrorists to place explosives near the security fence between #Israel and #Syria.
Our troops & aircraft fired toward the squad & a hit was identified.
We are ready for any scenario & hold the Syrian regime responsible for all events in Syria.

On the evening of August 2nd, rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel and they were intercepted.
Families in southern Israel went to see a movie at a drive-in theater this evening.
Halfway through, terrorists from Gaza fired a rocket at Israel, forcing the kids to run to bomb shelters.
Terror is not a movie for these kids, it’s a traumatic reality.

Just on the day before that, the IDF attempted to spread some propaganda against Lebanon and where its money had gone. It published a video which was subsequently taken down by Twitter due to an instant copyright claim.
