On March 18, fighters loyal to Saudi-backed Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi launched a new attack against the Houthis in al-Dahr Mount of the Nati district in the central province of al-Bayda, according to Yemeni sources.
The UAE-based al-Arabiya TV reported that pro-Hadi forces supported by the Saudi-led coalition had captured several positions in al-Dahr Mount. Pro-Hadi fighters reportedly killed 12 Houthi fighters there.
Hours later, the Houthis media wing denied al-Arabiya’s claims and released a video showing Houthi members repelling the attack on al-Dahr Mount. Houthi fighters killed and injured several pro-Hadi fighters and destroyed two vehicles of the Saudi-led coalition with ATGMs, according to the report.
Saudi-led coalition warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on positions of the Houthis in al-Dahr Mount during the failed attack, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.
The Saudi-led coalition claimed on February 28 that its forces had imposed full control over the Nati district including al-Dahr Mount. However, the recent developments proved that these claims had been nothing more than a propaganda move.
