On August 21, the Houthis recaptured several positions from the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies during a special operation in the district of Hayran in the northwestern province of Hajjah, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.
A source in the Houthis told al-Masirah that the Houthis killed several Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters and destroyed at least 10 vehicles of the Saudi-led coalition during the clashes in Hayran. Some of the vehicles, which were destroyed by the Houthis, were identified by experts as US-made Oshkosh Light Combat Tactical All-Terrain Vehicles.
“The bodies of mercenaries were crammed and the enemy was not able to recover them from the battlefields,” al-Masirah quoted the source as saying.
Last week, Houthi fighters repelled an attack of the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies on their positions along the coast of the district of Midi, which is located 50km northwest of Hayran.
The Saudi-led coalition will likely step up its operations in Hajjah following this attack in order to secure its gains there and to pressure the Houthis in the coastal city of al-Hudaydah, south of the province.
