A suicide drones swarm launched by the Yemeni Air Force, an ally of the Houthis, put Jizan’s airport in southern Saudi Arabia out of service in the late hours of June 20.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari, a spokesman for the Houthis, said that several Qasef-2K unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeted drone shelters and other military positions inside the airport.

“The attacks on Jizan airport achieved their goals with high-accuracy, thank God, they suspended aerial aviation in the airport,” Brig. Gen. Sari said in a statement released by al-Masirah TV.

From its side, the Saudi-led coalition claimed that its air defense systems had shot down two UAVs over Jizan. Local sources confirmed that the airport was closed following the Houthis’ attack. This indicates that other drones reached their targets.

This was the second attack on Jizan in the last 48 hours. In the late hours of June 19, the Houthis targeted the al-Shuqaiq Water Desalination and Power Plant in the southern Saudi province with what they described as a “cruise missile.” Saudi Arabia confirmed that the plant was hit.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Sari said that these attacks will continue, if Saudi Araba continues to escalate the situation in Yemen. The spokesman warned that the Yemeni resistance can produce missiles and armed drones “for years to come.”
