The Yemeni Missiles Force [loyal to the Houthis] announced on March 20 that they had launched two precision-guided Badir-1P rockets at Saudi-led coalition positions in the Kingdom’s southern province of Jizan.

According to the al-Masirah TV, the first rocket hit a training camp of Saudi-backed forces near the al-Nar mount, while the second one targeted a base of the coalition’s 5th Division in the area of al- Khubah.

A military source told al-Masirah that both rockets hit their targets with great accuracy. The source went on to claim that more than 70 personnel of the Saudi-led coalition, including high-ranking commanders, were killed and injured in the strike on the 5th Division base.

The Saudi-led coalition didn’t comment on the Yemeni Missiles Force’s claims, which usually means that the attack was successful.

The Badir-1P, which was revealed on October 27, is an INS\GPS guided version of the Badir-1 solid fuel artillery rocket. Experts believe that the Badir-1 family is derived from the Iranian-made Fajir-5 rocket.

Last week, the Houthis announced that they are locally mass-producing high-precision rockets and warned that they could launch attacks on targets within Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Today’s attack is a clear example of what the Yemeni rebel group is capable of.
