On February 9, Houthi fighters launched four Zilzal-1 rockets at gatherings of Saudi-led coalition troops near the area of al-Sudais in the Kingdom’s southern province of Jizan, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV.

The Houthis usually use the codename “Zilzal-1” to describe a variety of locally-made improvised rocket-assisted munitions (IRAMs), which are usually based on Grad 122mm rockets or Type 63 107mm rockets. These IRAMs have a very close range but a heavy warhead.

Following the rocket attack, the Houthis artillery shelled more gatherings of Saudi-backed forces in the area of al-Suh near Jizan. A military source told al-Masirah that several coalition fighters were killed and injured in the shelling.

The Houthis carry out such artillery and rocket attacks on Saudi-led coalition forces on a daily basis. These attacks are mainly aimed at deterring the coalition, which is trying to advance on several fronts in central and northern Yemen.
