The Houthis launched a fresh attack in the district of Sirwah in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib on March 14. In the course of the attack, the Yemeni group captured several positions from the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies.
The media wing of the Houthis released a 6-minute video of the attack showing Houthi fighters destroying many vehicles of the coalition with Konkurs and Metis anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). Bodies of several Saudi-backed fighters, who were killed in the clashes, can be seen in the video.
After the end of the clashes, the Houthis captured dozens of assault rifles and other light weapons which had been left behind by Saudi-led coalition personnel.
This attack came amid continued attempts by the Saudi-led coalition to advance in central Yemen. The coalition is trying to reach the Yemeni capital of Sanaa near Ma’rib. However, the situation on the ground suggests that this will not happen any time soon.
