On January 2, the Houthis repelled a new attack by the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies on their positions in the areas of Sbarin and Khaliftain in the northern Yemeni province of al-Jawf, according to the al-Masirah TV.
The Yemeni TV channel released a video showing how Houthi fighters destroyed more than ten vehicles of the coalition with anti-tank weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The video also shows the bodies of several Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters who were killed during the failed attack.
According to pro-Houthis sources, a former general in the Kuwaiti intelligence, who is currently working for the Saudi secret service, was killed in the attack.
The Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis stepped up their military operations in northern Yemen following the UN-sponsored ceasefire agreement, which was reached last month. While the agreement is seen as a positive first step, it is still limited to the western province of al-Hudaydah and the southwestern province of Tazi.
