Houthis Say Saudi-led Coalition Attack On Al-Hudaydah Is Still Ongoing

Brigadier General Yahya Sari, spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces

On November 15, Brigadier General Yahya Sari, a spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces [an ally of the Houthis], denied that the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies have halted their attack on the city of al-Hudaydah on the western Yemeni coast.

“The mercenaries of aggression attempted to advance towards the [area of] Kilo 16 and east of [the district of] Hays, where the heroes of the army and the popular committees [Houthis] confronted them,” Brig. Gen. Sari said in a statement, according to the al-Masirah TV.

Furthermore, Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on al-Hudaydah in the recent hours killing four civilians and injuring two others. In another attack, the coalition artillery shelled urban areas inside the strategic city, which resulted in the injury of at least six children.

“The continued aggression of coalition and its mercenaries and their attempts to make any advance on the ground contrary to what is promoted in their media … is within the framework of deceiving public opinion,” said Brig. Gen. Sari.

A day earlier, the Saudi-led coalition announced that it halted its attack on al-Hudaydah in order to facilitate humanitarian efforts there. However, it appears that this step was nothing but a propaganda stunt to ease the international pressure on the coalition.
