On January 4, Houthi fighters ambushed and destroyed two vehicles of the Saudi Army with IEDs in Jizan region in the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia, according to the Yemeni al-Masirah TV. Several Saudi officers and soldiers were killed in the ambush.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia announced that its MIM-104 Patriot air defense system had intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis over the southwestern Najran province. The Houthis missile was heading towards a civilian area in Nijran city, according to the Saudi led coalition.
Meanwhile, three vehicles belonging to Saudi-led forces were ambushed and destroyed by Houthi fighters in the province of Taiz in western Yemen. al-Masirah TV said that several pro-Hadi fighters were injured in the ambush.
From its side, pro-Saudi forces announced that their fighters advanced 10km towards the Khabb valley in the northern province of Jawf and captured the Urfaa area east of it. The UAE-based al-Arabiya TV reported that Saudi-led forces killed several fighters of the Houthis during their advance in Jawf.
The Saudi-led coalition’s operation in Jawf province is aimed at reaching the heartland of the Houthis, Saada, west of Jawf.
