Houthi Snipers Killed Or Injured Dozens Of Saudi-led Coalition Personnel In Last 24 Hours

The Houthis announced on March 30 that their snipers had killed and injured 34 personnel of the Saudi-led coalition, including 6 Saudi service members, in the last 48 hours.

According to an infographic released by the Yemeni group’s media wing, Houthi snipers targeted coalition personnel along the Yemeni border with the southern Saudi provinces of Najran, Jizan and Asir.

Since the beginning of 2017, Houthi snipers have increased their activity throughout Yemen, especially along the border with Saudi Arabia. They are usually armed with a variety of locally modified heavy sniper rifles and Western-made sniper rifles, which were captured from the Saudi military.

The Houthis view their sniper units as a low cost and risk way to infect heavy losses on the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies. This strategy has proved to be successful, to some extent.
