Hezbollah announced on April 7 that it had fired a salvo of “Katyusha” rockets at sites of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip and as a response to recent strikes on the northeastern Lebanese province of Beqaa.

In a statement, the group said that the rocket attack targeted the headquarters of the IDF’s air and missile defense command in the Keila barracks and the missile and artillery base in the settlement of Yoav. Hebrew media reported material damage, but no losses.

The IDF launched a series of strikes against air defense sites of Hezbollah in the Baalbek district in Beqaa, more than 100 kilometers away from the border, in the early morning after the group shot down a Hermes 900 combat drone using an anti-aircraft missile.

The attack on the Israeli military sites in Golan was not the only one announced by Hezbollah during the day.

Hezbolalh fighters shelled a newly-established artillery position of the IDF near the al-Manara site on the border with Lebanon, the group announced in a separate statement, noting that the attack was carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in Gaza.

The IDF responded to Hezbollah’s recent attacks by launching several strikes against southern Lebanon, the heartland of the group.

Launch sites used in the attack on the Golan were shelled in the towns of Kawkaba and Mays al-Jabal, according to the IDF.

Israeli fighter jets also carried out strikes on a military compound belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force in the town of Khiam. The IDF said that the compound included seven buildings used by the group. It also reported a strike against a command center of the group in the town of Toura.

Lebanese media didn’t report any civilian casualties and Hezbollah didn’t announce any losses as a result of recent Israeli strikes.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza last October, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the border clashes have resulted in eight civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least ten IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 253 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
