Late on December 1, Hezbollah attacked an artillery position of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near the northern Israeli settlement of Dishon.

In a statement, Hezbollah said that it fired a salvo of Grad 122 mm rockets at the artillery position, which it said was responsible for a strike on the southern Lebanese town of Houla that claimed the lives of a civilian man and his elderly mother.

The group noted in its statement that the attack was carried out “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance.”

Separately, Hezbollah mourned two of its fighters, saying in separate statements that they were killed “on the road of Jerusalem”.

Clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza on October 7, with Hezbollah launching dozens of attacks against the IDF.

Hezbollah renewed attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon on December 1, just hours after a temporary ceasefire in Gaza brokered by the United States, Egypt and Qatar ended. Hezbollah paused operations during the ceasefire, which began on November 24, despite not being a part of the agreement between Israel and the Hamas Movement.

So far, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of six IDF troops, three Israeli civilians, 86 fighters of Hezbollah, two fighters from the Lebanese Resistance Brigades, one fighter from the Lebanese Resistance Regiments, seven fighters from Hamas , four fighters from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and 14 Lebanese civilians.
