Hezbollah Leader Warns U.S. Against Creating Chaos In Lebanon, Says Israel Will Pay

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah during his televised speech on February 16.

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah has warned the United States against creating chaos in Lebanon, saying that the retaliation of his group would be “unimaginable”.

Speaking on February 16 at a ceremony that was organized to commemorate Hezbollah’s late commanders, Sheikh Ragheb Harb, Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi and Hajj Imad Mughniyeh, Nasrallah said that whoever “pushes Lebanon towards chaos and collapse has to expect chaos in the entire region and especially in the Zionist entity.”

Hezbollah leader warned that the U.S. is trying to take advantage of the economic crisis in Lebanon to plunge the country into chaos.

Nasralla said that if there is “procrastination” in extracting gas from Lebanese waters for Lebanon, Hezbollah will not let Israel operate at Karish gas field.

“If there is procrastination regarding the issue of oil and gas from Lebanese waters, will we allow Israel to continue extracting oil and gas from Karish? I tell you never, this means if you want us to starve, we will kill you, and I thought well of what I said,” warned Nasrallah.

The leader added that the US “must be told to stay away” from the issue of gas and oil extraction off the coast of Lebanon.

Last October, Lebanon and Israel separately signed a historic maritime border deal after several years of U.S. mediation. The deal allowed Lebanon to launch work in its naval gas and oil fields.

“We won’t keep mum over U.S. schemes, whoever creates chaos in Lebanon has to expect chaos in Israel,” Nasrallah said. “He who wants to push Lebanon towards chaos and collapse has to expect an unimaginable retaliation.”

Nasrallah’s threats to the U.S. and Israel come as Lebanon’s economic and political crises continue to escalate. Washington’s attempts to use the Lebanese crisis to counter Hezbollah influence could eventually lead to a military confrontation between the group and Israel.
