On December 29, Hezbollah launched a new wave of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from its heartland, southern Lebanon.

In a separate statement, the group said its fighters targeted the Israeli military sites of Hadab Yaron and al-Marj near the Lebanese border. It also announced that it had struck a crane carrying surveillance equipment near the settlement of Dovev and an artillery position of the IDF in the Khirbet Maar site.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.

Separately, Hebrew media reported rocket attacks on the settlements of Dovev, Bar’am, Zarit and Shomera. There was no damage or casualties however.

The IDF said that fighter jets of the Air Force carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in the Hamoul area of southern Lebanon in response to the last wave of attacks. The targets included rocket launching positions, a military site and other infrastructure used by the group.

An anti-tank missile squad in the southern Lebanon village of Aitaroun and a launcher used to fire missiles at Israel from the settlement of Yaroun were also struck, according to the IDF.

In addition, Lebanese media said that an Israeli drone strike hit a car in the town of Aitroun and a series of artillery strikes targeted the towns of Rashaya Al-Fakhar, Kafr Hamam and Al-Mari in southern Lebanon. There were no reports of casualties.

Hezbollah and its allies, including the Palestinian Hamas Movement, have been launching attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza.

As of December 29, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 150 have been killed. The toll includes 120 Hezbollah members, ten of whom were killed in Syria, 16 Palestinian fighters, at least 19 civilians and three journalists.
