On January 11, Hezbollah attacked troop gatherings, sites and equipment of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on the border with Lebanon.

The group said its fighters targeted gatherings of Israeli troops in the military sites of al-Matla, Birkat Risha and al-Baghdadi as well as on the Shaar hill, al-Tihat hill and Mount Nathir. It also announced attacks on the military sites of al-Malikiyah and Ramtha.

Furthermore, Hezbollah fighters targeted and destroyed surveillance equipment deployed by the IDF on top of the Cobra hill.

The group also said that it fired “dozens” of rockets at the northern Israeli settlement of Qiryat Shemona and nearby areas. The IDF later said that ten rockets targeted the settlement, three of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system. Hebrew media didn’t report any casualties.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” according to Hezbollah.

Additionally, the group’s Military Media released video footage of attacks that targeted Israeli surveillance equipment in the military sites of Hadab al-Bustan and Hanita on January 8 and 9.

In response to the recent wave of attacks, the IDF announced that it had carried out a series of air and artillery strikes against military buildings, an observation post and other infrastructure of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese media said that heavy strikes targeted the southern towns of Khiam and Hanin. Two first responders were killed in Hanin when a center of the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Organization was struck.

Hezbollah and its allies have been launching cross-border attacks against the IDF since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip last October.

So far, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 180 have been killed. The toll includes 150 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 25 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
