Clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) along the Lebanese-Israeli border continued on February 3.

Hezbollah announced in three separate statements that its fighters had attacked Khirbet Maar, a key base of the IDF located right on the border, using “suitable weapons” and fired rockets at the Israeli military sites of al-Sammaqa and al-Ramta.

In two other statements, the group said it shelled the settlement of Even Menachem and targeted a gathering of Israeli troops in the settlement of Yir’on.

The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah said.

In response to the attacks, the IDF said that it carried out airstrikes against several targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

A Hezbollah command center, where fighters were gathered, and a nearby rocket launch site used in a recent attack, were hit in the town of Yaroun, the IDF said, adding that two observation posts of the group in the towns of Marwahin and Ayta al-Shaab were also targeted.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

So far, the clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border have resulted in six civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 200 have been killed. The toll includes 166 Hezbollah fighters, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 28 Palestinians, a Lebanese soldier, and at least 24 civilians.
