Hezbollah launched a salvo of heavy rockets at central Israel on November 6, causing damage to Ben Gurion Airport near the city of Tel Aviv.

In a statement, Hezbollah said that the rocket attack targeted Tsarfil base, which hosts multiple military training colleges, close to Ben Gurion Airport. The group noted that the attack was carried out in the framework of Khaybar Operations, a revenge campaign that was launched by the group after the assassination of its Secretary-General Hasan Nasrallah on September 27.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that some ten rockets were fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon, with most of them being intercepted by air defenses.

However, the military admitted that at least one of the rockets impacted Ben Gurion Airport. Delays and disruptions were reported at the airport after the attack. However, the Israel Airports Authority said that the airport was “open and working normally for arrivals and departures.”

Debris from an intercepted rocket also struck an empty parked car in the nearby area of Ra’anana without causing any causalities.

The attack came on the Arba’in of Nasrallah, the day forty after death in an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The confrontation between the IDF and Hezbollah broke out after the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, with the group launching attacks in support of the Palestinian enclave. Israel escalated its attacks on Lebanon starting from September 17 and on September 30 it launched a limited ground operation in the country.

The confrontation has so far resulted in 40 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights as well as the deaths of at least 61 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 3,000 people have been killed, including more than 500 members of Hezbollah.
