On December 8, Hezbollah announced attacks against seven positions of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) along the border with Lebanon.

Hezbollah said in a separate statement that its fighters targeted the military sites of Misgav Am, Ruwaisat al-Alam, al-Radar, al-Abad, in addition to the Mitat barracks with suitable weapons. Hebrew media reported that at least two Israeli soldiers were wounded in Mitat. They were both airlifted from the barracks.

The group also announced that an artillery position of the IDF in Khirbet Maar was shelled and Burkan heavy rockets were fired at al-Raheb military site.

The attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements. The group also released footage from previous attacks.

In addition to the attacks announced by Hezbollah, the IDF said that it shot down a “suspicious aerial target” that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon.

Lebanese media reported intense Israeli air and artillery strikes on different parts of southern Lebanon. Munitions containing white phosphorus were heavily used near the towns of Rmeish and Aita al-Shaab. The strikes damaged civilian properties and even wounded a dog. However, there were no human losses.

Hezbollah and its allies, including the Hamas Movement and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, began launching attacks against the IDF from southern Lebanon after the war in Gaza broke out last October.

As of December 8, the clashes on the Lebanese front have claimed the lives of 133 people, including six IDF soldiers, 92 fighters of Hezbollah, 13 fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, a soldier from the Lebanese Armed Forces and at least 13 Lebanese civilians.
