Hezbollah carried out on August 9 a series of attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), using rockets, drones and other weapons.
In separate statements, the group said that it fired two barrages of rockets, including Iranian-made Falaq, at the headquarters of the IDF’s 769th Brigade in Kiryat Shmona Barracks. It also targeted buildings occupied by Israeli troops in the settlements of Kiryat Shmona and al-Manara.
Furthermore, the group launched several suicide drones at the newly-established headquarters of the Western Brigade’s Coastal Battalion near the settlement of Lyman.
In two other attacks, the group targeted a gathering of Israeli troops near the site of Metula and shelled the site of al-Samaqa.
Hebrew media reported material losses after the attacks, especially in Kiryat Shmona. From its side, Hezbollah noted in its statements that the attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip as well as in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon.
In response to the attacks, the IDF said that it killed two Hezbollah fighters in the southern Lebanese town of Naqoura with a drone strike. The group later mourned the fighters in separate statements, saying that they were killed “on the road to Jerusalem.”
Hezbollah and its allies in Lebanon have been launching attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other factions in Gaza since the start of the Israeli war on the Strip last October.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 18 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 600 people have been killed, including 384 fighters of Hezbollah and over 100 civilians.
