Hezbollah launched three attacks against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from its heartland, southern Lebanon, on December 30.

The group announced in a statement that it had struck the Israeli Ramtha military site on the border with Lebanon using a suicide drone. The IDF said later that a “suspicious aerial target” that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon was intercepted. However, Hebrew media reported that a soldier was wounded in a drone attack.

In two other statements, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted gathering of Israeli troops in the Adathar forest and Ramim barracks with “suitable weapons.

The three attacks were carried out “to support the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their brave and honorable resistance,” Hezbollah noted in its statements.

It’s worth noting that during the day rocket warning sirens were sounded in Kiryat Shmona and a number of nearby settlements in northern Israel. However, there were no reports of impacts and Hezbollah didn’t announce any rocket attacks.

In response to the last wave of attack, the IDF announced that a fighter jet and other aircraft struck three cells in southern Lebanon. Additionally, the IDF said it carried out strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure and shelled areas in southern Lebanon with artillery.

Lebanese media reported heavy strikes on the towns of Bint Jbeil and Kafr Kila, both are known to be strongholds of Hezbollah. However, there were no casualties.

The clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border first broke out after the start of the war in Gaza, with Hezbollah and its allies carrying out attacks in support of the Strip.

As of December 30, the border clashes have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 150 have been killed. The toll includes 124 Hezbollah members, 14 of whom were killed in Syria, 18 Palestinian fighters, at least 19 civilians and three journalists.
