On December 6, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, released dramatic video footage of clashes with the Israeli Defense Forces in the northern Gaza Strip.
The footage shows Hamas fighters firing rocket-propelled grenades from the ruins of destroyed buildings at Israeli military vehicles attempting to advance in the Shejaiya neighborhood in Gaza City. Several main battle tanks were hit and at least one armored personnel carrier was completely destroyed.
In addition, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that its fighters targeted a total of 23 vehicles in the city of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza and the city of Khan Yunis in the southern part of the Strip during the day. The fighters also targeted six IDF soldiers with sniper rifles and blew up two buildings occupied by Israeli troops with explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades.
Separately, the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, said that its fighters targeted ten IDF vehicles during the day in several directions in northern and eastern Gaza.
The IDF reported that three of its fighters were killed on December 6. However, it claimed that one of them, a reserve officer, had lost his life in a car accident.
Israeli troops expanded ground operations in northern Gaza and launched an offensive in Khan Yunis in the south earlier this week. Despite taking losses, they are yet to make any significant gains. The IDF advance is notably slower than earlier in the war.
