The al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas Movement, has released two videos documenting recent combat operations against the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
The first video shows a Hamas fighter placing an explosive device atop a Namer armored personnel carrier (APC) of the IDF in the area of Abasan al-Kabira to the east of Khan Younis. The al-Qassam Brigades said that the APC was one of three targeted in the same way during the attack.
The IDF admitted that the attack, which took place on July 26, claimed the lives of two technicians from the reconnaissance unit of the elite Golani Brigade. An officer from the same formation was also moderately wounded in the same attack.
The other video shows an attack that took place in the area of al-Batn al-Samin to the southwest of Khan Younis on July 28. During the attack, three vehicles, all likely Namer APCs, were targeted with explosive devices planted on the side of the road leading to an IDF post.
The video also includes footage of several recent mortar and rocket attacks that targeted IDF posts and deployment areas near Khan Younis.
Despite capturing more than 70% of Gaza since launching Operation Gideon’s Chariots last May, the IDF is still facing serious resistance from Hamas and other factions in Gaza.
With a complete military victory highly unlikely, Israel recently threatened Hamas with punitive measures, including annexing parts of Gaza, if it does not accept a proposed ceasefire and hostage deal. Still, the group rejected, citing the worsening humanitarian situation in the Strip.
