Russian UAVs continue attacks on military targets in the Odessa region. In recent days, the Russian military have increased their attacks in Odessa, striking at the military infrastructure in the city, including the decision-making centers.
On September 25, the headquarters of the operational command “South” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in the city of Odessa was struck with at least two Geranium-2 suicide UAVs. Most of the operations carried out by the AFU in the southern direction were prepared and commanded from there.
According to Ukrainian sources, ambulances ruched to the spot after the attack. The building was severely damaged. The city authorities confirmed the attack but did not reveal if it resulted in any casualties.
At night, the Geranium-2 drones resumed attacks in the Odessa region. Among their targets were the AFU military warehouses in the town of Zatoka, located on the Black Sea coast to the west of Odessa.
Eyewitnesses shared videos showing large explosions. Explosives were heard detonating after a fire broke out on the spot, which confirms that the warehouses were used by the Ukrainian military.
Earlier, on September 23, the headquarters of the Ukrainian Navy were hit by Russian UAVs in the port of Odessa.
The Russian military uses Iranian-made suicide drone “Shahed-136”, rebranded as “Geran-2”. They have already proven their effectiveness. They allow the Russian military to strike deep into the enemy’s defenses. The UAVs can be launched from trucks and are unlikely to be detected by Ukrainian air defense systems.
Ukrainian servicemen are trying to intercept drones with small arms, but almost to no avail. So far, only one Geranium-2 drone has been intercepted in the Odessa region. The Ukrainian chaotic fire leads to more danger to the civilian population. So far, at least two civilians have reportedly been wounded by Ukrainian fire in the city.
The deployment of Iranian drones in Ukraine provoked panic in Kiev. Zelensky demands from his Western sponsors the supply of air defense systems capable of intercepting them.
