FSB Detained Member Of Ukrainian Militant Group In Crimea (Photos, Video)

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) have detained a member of Ukrainian militant group and seized a cache with weapons and explosives in the Republic of Crimea, the FSB press service said in a statement on December 19.

“The investigation department of the Russian FSB in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has brought charges against a 57-year-old Russian citizen detained as he was entering Crimea on December 12. The man is accused of illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of ammunition and explosives,” the FSB statement said.

According to the provided data, last spring he arranged a cache with ammunition and explosives to use them in Crimea. The cache contained 12 kilograms of TNT and 200 cartridges, according to the statement.

The detained person is a member of Ukrainian militant group known as the Noman Celebicihan Battalion. The leader of the group is Lenur Islyamov. The organization has been participating in the blockade of Crimea. In 2015, its members participating in blowing up a power transmission line heading through Ukraine’s Kherson region to Crimea. This move caused the blackout of the peninsula.
