On early hours on November 15th, Security forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan launched a large-scale counterterrorism operation in the city of Kandahar.
The operation was aimed against ISIS fighters in the region. Four hideouts were reportedly destroyed.
According to local officials, the operation resulted in killing of four ISIS fighters and arresting of eight of them.
“The security and intelligence forces of the Islamic Emirate launched an operation on Daesh hideouts early on Monday in which eight Daesh members were arrested, and four were killed,” said Shamsuddin Samim, deputy head of Kandahar’s information and culture department.
The counterterrorism operation provoked hard clashes that have lasted for several hours. Local residents claimed that two civilians were also killed during the operation. They were reportedly killed in an explosion in a house where ISIS members lived.
The civilian victims were confirmed Saeed Khosti, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior.
