Russian military sources shared new video of a close-in fighting on Ukrainian frontlines. Scouts of the Black Knives Division launched a successful assault on Ukrainian military positions in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

According to Russian reports, as a result of the attack, Russian fighters successfully destroyed positions of the 151 Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“As a result of the intense fighting, our fighters showed courage and skill, destroying the enemy”, the public channels of the Black Knives Division commented on the operation.

Having met Russian fighters face to face, Ukrainian soldiers tried to resist and fight back, but failed to repel the attack. As a result, they fled from their positions, leaving the wounded and the corpses of their dead comrades without evacuation. Coordinated actions and high training of Russian servicemen have reportedly become the key to success.

Today, the Black Knives Division is the 90th Guards Tank Vitebsk-Novgorod Twice Red Banner Division. This unit was reestablished in 2016 and is stationed in the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions. The division inherits the military glory of the 30th Ural Volunteer Tank Corps, which the German Nazis cautiously called the black knife division“.

During the World War II, the Ural (Ural-Lviv) Volunteer Tank Corps was equipped with weapons and equipment manufactured by workers of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Perm regions thanks to their gratuitous labor in excess of the plan and with voluntary contributions. The workers of the Zlatoust plant armed all the fighters with HP-40 black knives. They were exceptionally strong and sharp. Even experienced personnel units of the Wehrmacht were afraid of elite Russian fighters and granted them the unofficial name of “Black Knives Division”; and the German Nazis had a good reason to be afraid. During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the unit gained military glory in battles, reached Berlin and Prague. It received the name of the 10th Guards Uralsko-Lvovskaya Volunteer Tank Division.

With the beginning of the Russian Special Military Operation in Ukraine, units of the 90th Tank Division took part in battles in the area of Izyum in the Kharkiv region, as well as in the Krasny Liman direction, in the Svatovo-Kremennaya area. Soldiers of the 90th Tank Division took part in the Battle for Avdeevka. Today, they continue to grind the Ukrainian army, advancing in the Pokrovsk direction.
