On the night of November 25, Russian forces launched “the most massive drone attack” on the Ukrainian capital since the beginning of the special military operation. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 74 out of 75 drones were allegedly shot down by the forces of the valiant Ukrainian air defense in the Kyiv region.
Kyiv residents complained of a sleepless night. Explosions thundered throughout the city and in other areas of the region. The attack lasted for about six hours. There were several waves until the early morning.
As a result of the massive drone strikes, a power station in the city was reportedly damaged. Ukrenergo and the Kyiv authorities warned of serious power outages in the capital and the region. The work of the subway was also interrupted. Such damage could not be a result of some damage to an only station. These official claims by Ukrainian authorities refuted the claims by the Ukrainian military that allegedly only one Russian drone was not shot down. Moreover, footage from the city confirmed fires in the city.
Russian drones were spotted in Brovary, Zhuliany, Troyeshchyna regions near Kyiv. According to preliminary reports, the strikes targeted air defense systems near the Boryspil airport and Ukrainian ammunition depots, where detonation was reported.
On the morning of November 25, the satellite imagery showed positions of US-made Patriot air defense system at Zhuliany airport in Kyiv. No damage was detected in the area, however, most of the Patriot launchers were missing in their positions at the airport.
Ukrainian sources shared photos of wreckage of a Russian Geran UAV that was reportedly shot down near the city. The drones were painted in black. It has become much more difficult to spot black drones in the night sky. Especially because there are special squad of Ukrainian servicemen deployed around the capital, who are ordered to patrol the sky, look for drones and shoot them down with machine guns.
On the night of Novemeber 25, more explosions reportedly thundered in the Mykolaiv, Kirovograd, Zaporozhie regions. In the afternoon of November 25, air alert again sounded in Kyiv, as well as in the Sumy region. In the evening, it sounded in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy regions.
According to the report by the Russian Ministry of Defense on November 24, Russian forces carried out 31 group strikes over the past week. They targeted Ukrainian infrastructure, arsenals, fuel depots, military bases, facilities used by nationalist formations and the Foreign Legion in a week.
