According to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the election of Donald Trump has put the end to the 20th century’s world order.

The election of Donald Trump has put the end to the 20th century’s world order, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier wrote in his article, published by the Bild am Sonntag newspaper on Sunday.
“The old world of the ХХ century has been definitively completed with the election of Donald Trump,” Steinmeier wrote. “Which kind of the world order may lie ahead in the ХХI century? How will the world of tomorrow look like? These questions remain open,” the German Foreign Minister noted.
Steinmeier warned that during a change of power, doubts, uncertainty and a number of questions about policies of a new leadership occur, and today “there is much at stake.” The German Minister noted that not only Trump, but also his team entered upon the office.
“We will seek a dialogue and will bring our attitude, our values and interests to the new administration’s notice. We want to very clearly inform about our ideas and our expectations for strengthen of the partnership between Europe and the US,” he wrote.
“I know we have to prepare for difficult times, for some unpredictability and uncertainty. But I bet on the fact that we will find attentive listeners in Washington, who understand that even large countries also need partners and are ready to go their own way with good friends and reliable allies,” the German Foreign Minister added.
A day before, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that she intends to seek compromises with the Trump’s administration. First of all, according to her, it is a question of military expenditures and trade cooperation.
