Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles at northern, central and southern Israel on June 15, causing casualties and material losses.
In the afternoon, the Islamic Republic launched a small barrage of missiles, sending millions to bomb shelters in northern and central Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) later said that most of the missiles were intercepts. No casualties or damage was reported.
A larger barrage, reportedly made up of more than 40 missiles, was launched later in the evening. This time, multiple impacts were reported from northern to southern Israel.
Seven people were injured in the northern city of Haifa and another in a town near Kiryat Gat in the south, with one person moderately hurt and the rest lightly injured, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service. Nine people were also treated for acute anxiety.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the missile strikes were a part of Operation True Promise 3, which was launched in retaliation to Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear program.
Israeli intelligence facilities were targeted, according to the guards. Iranian media also reported that a facility of Israel’s defense giant Rafael Advanced Defense Systems was hit.
Separately, the IDF announced that more than 100 suicide drones launched by Iran has been intercepted by the air force and navy since the start of the attack on the Islamic Republic, codenamed Operation Rising Lion, three days ago. The military released video footage showing some of the recent interceptions.
Iranian retaliatory strikes have so far killed 14 Israelis and left more than 435 others wounded. Meanwhile, the Islamic Republic has reported the death of at least 224 people, including over 70 women and children, in the ongoing Israeli attack, and said that more than 1,481 others have been wounded.
The IDF is intensifying its strikes on Iran. Despite this, the Islamic Republic’s missile strikes are becoming more and more lethal.
So far, Iran has kept its strikes limited, launching only a few dozens in each barrage. Tehran is apparently expecting a long confrontation. Still, the coming days could see more extensive Iranian strikes, if Israel continues to escalate.
