On the evening of July 19, an explosion rocked the Iraqi Sadr City, in eastern suburbs of Baghdad.
According to the local security media cell, a terrorist attack by an improvised explosive device (IED) took place in the Al-Wahlat market of the Shiite quarter of Sadr City.
According to preliminary data, 24 people were killed, including at least 10 women and 4 children, as a result of the IED explosion. 40 were reportedly wounded.
It is still unknown who was behind the attack.
ISIS cells may be behind the attack.
On June 30, ISIS took responsibility for a similar attack on a market in the Sadr City that left 15 people wounded. Another ISIS attack was carried out in April.
