
The event took place at al-Mahjoorah Battalion
Dozens of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) and linked-groups members were killed during their failed attempt to break the Syrian army’s defenses at the abadonned al-Mahjoorah Battalion military camp near the militant-controlled town of Ibtaa in the Syrian province of Daraa last night.
Jabhat Fatah al-Sham and its allies attack the Syrian army’s positions at al-Mahjoorah Battalion from the western direction and initially entered the military camp’s area. However, they faced a stiff response by Syrian troops and were pushed to retreat.
According to pro-government forces over 40 militants were killed. Pro-militant media outlets confirm 26 killed in action terrorists:
- 7 from Jabhat Fatah al-Sham
- 10 from Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar (the group pleged an alliance to Jabhat Fatah al-Sham in September 2015)
- 5 from Jaysh Yarmuk
- 2 from Fallujah Horan
- 2 from Jund al-Malahim
