A convoy of U.S. forces has withdrawn from a key base in the southern al-Hasakah countryside in northeast Syria, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported late on October 25.
“A convoy of U.S. occupation forces withdrew from the city of al-Shaddadi in south al-Hasakah towards Iraqi border,” the state-run agency’s report reads.
The coalition base, which is located in the southern part of al-Shaddadi, hosts dozens of U.S. service members. At least eight helicopters are deployed there. The base guards the al-Jibsah gas factory and the al-Shaddadi oil fields, both controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Less than a day after the withdrawal of some U.S. forces from al-Shaddadi based, a convoy consisting of dozens of U.S. military armored vehicles entered northeast Syria. The convoy, that came from Iraq, headed towards oil fields in Deir Ezzor.
The Pentagon confirmed that the U.S. will deploy additional troops to control oil fields in northeast Syria. This means that U.S. forces won’t abandon their large base in al-Shaddadi any time soon.
