Control Zone Of Kyiv’s Forces Shrinks In Kursk Region Under Increasing Russian Pressure

As of January 4, the Russian Armed Forces continue their operation to neutralize a group of forces of the Kyiv regime, which invaded the territory of the Russian region of Kursk.

According to the Russian military, units of the Sever (North) Group of Forces of the Russian Armed Forces inflicted losses on formations of one heavy mechanised brigade, one tank brigade, three mechanised brigades, two air assault brigades, one marine brigade, four territorial defence brigades, and one brigade of South Special Operations Centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in recent clashes.

The main hostilities were ongoing around the villages of Aleksandriya, Bondarevka, Goncharovka, Daryino, Zaoleshenka, Kolmakov, Kurilovka, Leonidovo, Loknya, Malaya Loknya, Makhovka, Melovoy, Mirny, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novaya Sorochina, Staraya Sorochina, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Yuzhny and the town of Sudzha.

“In the course of reconnaissance and search actions and air reconnaissance, the paratroopers located an AFU stronghold in a forest belt. The command decided to capture these positions. Right before the assault on the stronghold, the paratroopers artillery struck positions of Ukrainian militants. After suppressing the located AFU firing points and disrupting the command system, the actions of the airborne artillery units allowed the airborne assault detachments to enter the stronghold and secure it,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a description of the video.

At the same time, Russian Operational-Tactical and Army aviation and artillery inflicted losses on manpower and hardware in the rear of forces of the Kyiv regime involved in clashes in Kursk. Strikes were reported near Viktorovka, Guyevo, Zamostye, Lebedevka, Lokinskaya, Martynovka, Mikhaylovka, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo as well as Basovka, Belovody, Vodolagi, Druzhba, Zhuravka, Marchikhina Buda, and Yunakovka in Sumy region.

“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 540 troops, four tanks, one infantry fighting vehicle, one armoured fighting vehicle, 25 armoured fighting vehicles, 49 motor vehicles, one artillery gun, and four mortars.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to more than 47,810 troops, 267 tanks, 205 infantry fighting vehicles, 147 armoured personnel carriers, 1,418 armoured fighting vehicles, 1,370 motor vehicles, 341 artillery guns, 42 MLRS launchers, including 11 of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, 14 anti-aircraft missile launchers, seven transport-loading vehicles, 83 EW stations, 13 counter-battery warfare radars, four air defence radars, 28 units of engineering and other materiel, including 13 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, seven armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on January 4.

D-30 howitzer crew of the Sever (North) Group of Forces destroyed AFU armoured hardware, fortified firing positions, artillery and mortar crews in the border area of Kursk region.

Ka-52M wiped out armoured hardware and manpower of the AFU in the border area of Kursk region.

Russian Mi-28NM helicopters thwarted a rotation attempt of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region.

Despite the shrinking control zone, the Kyiv regime has been spending significant efforts to keep its presence in the border area the Russian region of Kursk. This requires a regular flow of reinforcements and supplies to the shrinking group of forces involved in the operation. Thanks to this bloody price forces of the Kyiv regime still able to keep contact line around Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Malaya Loknya and Sudzha. In own turn, the Russian side uses this fixation of Kyiv on PR gains in this border battle to use its advantage in fire power and eliminate more and more troops and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
